DUSIT further bolsters its food business in Thailand as OR acquires a 25% stake in Dusit Foods Dusit Thani Public Company Limited (DUSIT), one of Thailand’s leading hotel and property development companies, and PTT Oil and Retail Business Public Company Limited (OR) by Modulus Venture, a wholly owned subsidiary of OR, a leading oil and retail company, have inked an agreement for OR to acquire a 25% stake in DUSIT’s food business subsidiary, Dusit Foods, as part of a joint vision to deliver a new growth engine that contributes to Thailand’s economic rise by fostering development of the food industry. To achieve this, DUSIT aims to combine its strengths in upstream, midstream, and downstream food businesses with OR’s expertise in operating leading retail distribution channels – including almost 2,500 PTT Stations and over 4,000 Café Amazon outlets – to reach multiple lifestyle segments, help local food businesses expand domestically and internationally, and deliver sustainable value across the entire supply chain, both inside and outside of Thailand. The investment agreement was officially signed at a special ceremony held recently at Baan Dusit Thani in Bangkok, where Ms Suphajee Suthumpun, Group CEO, DUSIT; Ms La-ead Kovavisaruch, Chief Investment Officer, DUSIT; Ms Jiraphon Kawswat, President and CEO, OR; and Mr Somyot Kongprawet, Senior Executive Vice President, Lifestyle Business, OR, were all on hand to mark the occasion. “We are delighted and honoured to join hands with OR for this exciting, synergistic alliance that will leverage OR’s robust retail platform and retail expertise and our own extensive knowledge in upstream, midstream, and downstream food businesses to meet the needs of multiple lifestyle segments in Thailand and abroad,” said Ms Suthumpun. “At the same time, our companies both share the same clear vision to deliver a new growth engine that fosters growth of the food industry in Thailand and ultimately contributes to the country's economic development. This includes working together with OR to create a new food platform that gives local businesses opportunities for domestic and international expansion, including extending their growth and revenue-generating prospects by working with OR as well as other thriving non-oil retail ent**ies that OR has invested in previously, namely Café Amazon and the Ohkajhu health food brand. This shared vision makes our alliance even more powerful.” Ms Suthumpun explained that, as part of its vision ‘to bring Asia to the world,’ Dusit Foods itself prioritises investing in food businesses that place importance on natural, organic, and good-for-health processes while also supporting local communities. “As part of our company’s three-pronged strategy for balance, expansion, and diversification, we have invested in food businesses that are not only related to our core hotel business, but which also have high growth potential and cover the total supply chain. We expect all these food businesses to flourish under our alliance with OR, plus further opportunities to expand domestically and internationally.” Dusit Foods' investment portfolio currently includes Epicure Catering Co., Ltd., a leading provider of food and beverage services to the international school industry with a market share of over 70% in Thailand; The Caterers Joint Stock Company Limited, or ‘The Caterers,’ a leader in school catering and off-site receptions in Vietnam; and KAUAI, a pop****r healthy fast-casual restaurant chain from South Africa, which Dusit Foods brought to the Thai market and plans to expand across Asia. Most recently, Dusit Foods concluded an agreement to acquire a 55% stake in Bonjour Bakery Asia Co., Ltd., which operates a state-of-the-art baking factory producing French-style pastry products in the Eastern Seaboard Industrial Estate, Rayong Province, and its a***ociated bakery franchise business, comprising more than 50 branches across Thailand and one in China. Speaking on behalf of OR at the signing ceremony, Ms Kawswat said that OR’s past, present, and future are fully embodied in its new vision, ‘Empowering All Toward Inclusive Growth.’ This vision includes identifying opportunities for inclusive growth and focusing on collaborations that strengthen businesses and help them to fulfil their potential. Ms Kawswat added that OR’s ultimate goal is to reach inclusive growth and success in all dimensions amidst the uncertain global economic environment. “Our alliance with DUSIT through Dusit Foods will enhance the potential of OR's lifestyle business, especially the food segment, which will benefit the outlets owned by OR and those we have co-invested in,” said Ms Kawswat. “One of OR’s missions is to create an alternative food business model that facilitates convenience and comprehensively meets all the lifestyle preferences of multigenerational consumers. Following our focus on Outside-In growth, which includes seeking investment opportunities with partners in new markets, this new model will also allow us to flourish with other Thai brands, locally and internationally.” Ms Kawswat said that DUSIT’s business strategy aligns with OR’s goal for economic prosperity that aims to drive growth, offer career opportunities, and distribute wealth to partners and MSMEs by working directly with them. “In expanding its business internationally, Dusit Foods aims to introduce ‘Thainess’ to the global arena, bringing benefits to both upstream and downstream food supply chains, as well as local communities, and we see huge potential for growth in this area,” said Ms Kawswat. “OR is now ready for businesses of all types and sizes to enter the OR ecosystem, and we’re primed to transform into an Inclusive Growth Platform that combines business models and innovation to address problems faced by people, society, and the environment to have a positive, meaningful impact overall.” |

The Stage is set for the Season Finale at the 2022 HANA BANK SEOUL E-PRIX Season 8 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Champions***p will climax in South Korea this weekend with the 2022 Hana Bank Seoul E-Prix where the champion driver and team will be crowned and the world’s first all-electric motorsport series will mark 100 races. Eleven teams and 22 drivers have competed in Formula E’s biggest racing season to date with Rounds 15 and 16 to come this Sat****ay and Sunday and four drivers still in contention for the t**le at the top of the standings. It will be the first time Formula E has raced in South Korea with the E-Prix taking place on a unique track constructed around and even looping through the Jamsil Olympic Stadium, the first world champions***p sporting event held at the venue since the Olympic Games in 1988. Stoffel Vandoorne leads the way for Mercedes-EQ in a bid to make it back-to-back wins following their Drivers' and Teams' World Champions***p success last year in Season 7. The Belgian extended his lead to 36 points over nearest rival Mitch Evans (Jaguar TCS Racing) during the SABIC London E-Prix two weeks ago that saw his closest compet**ors falter. Consistency is critical in the ABB FIA Formula E World Champions***p. While Vandoorne has achieved only one win this season compared to three each for Evans and Edoardo Mortara (ROKiT Venturi Racing) in third place, Vandoorne has the most podium finishes and has scored on 13 occasions this season, taking the honour from Daniel Abt as the most consistent points finisher in a campaign. Vandoorne’s last four rounds have all yielded top four finishes and a pair of podiums: the gauntlet has been thrown by the Mercedes-EQ driver. In his fourth campaign, Vandoorne has been around the series long enough to know that securing his first World Champions***p t**le is far from a sure thing in Seoul, where race strategy will be affected by high humidity and record-breaking levels of rainfall this week that will demand outstanding planning and driving execution. Mitch Evans (Jaguar TCS Racing) had worked his way into closest contention of top spot but a crus***ng technical problem in London put a huge dent in his chances. The Kiwi was on track to pin Vandoorne back to a 22-point lead, some 14 fewer than his current advantage but an inverter problem at the end of Round 14 saw him out of fourth and into retirement despite front-running pace. But opportunity remains for Evans. He has dominated entire race weekends before, most notably in Rome this season, but the stakes are much higher this time around and Vandoorne only has to outdo the Jaguar driver in Round 15 for the battle to be over. In third and fourth respectively, Edoardo Mortara and DS TECHEETAH's Jean-Éric Vergne have it all to do. Mortara topped the standings at the halfway stage of the season after a run of two wins and two more podiums in Berlin and Jakarta. Since then, the Swiss has only managed two low-scoring points finishes in New York City and a pair of non-scores in London, but he remains just five points back from Evans. Similarly, Vergne has hit his worst-ever run in Formula E, with four consecutive blanks for the very first time in the champions***p. While it’s an uncharacteristic return from the Frenchman, JEV is the only driver in the top four to have won the World Champions***p – twice – and experience could still earn a place on the podium. - The Teams' battle Mercedes-EQ stretched its lead in London with silverware for both de Vries and Vandoorne. Back-to-back t**les look to be on with a 36-point margin on ROKiT Venturi Racing in second, with DS TECHEETAH behind the Monegasque outfit by 11 points. - Landmarks await On Sunday, the second race of the 2022 Hana Bank Seoul E-Prix double-header will be Formula E’s 100th E-Prix. The race is also the end of the Gen2 era, the second version of Formula E race car. As such, the centenary E-Prix will appropriately mark three huge generational leaps in EV technology and industry-leading sustainability achievements ahead of the debut in Season 9 of the fastest, lightest, most powerful and efficient electric race car ever built – the Gen3. - The 1,000 club As the only driver set to line up on the grid this weekend and race in all 100 E-Prix, Lucas di Gra***i (ROKiT Venturi Racing) is also chasing a landmark 1,000 points. The Brazilian has been an intrinsic part of Formula E from day zero and is set to become the only driver to have entered every E-Prix to-date following Sam Bird’s (Jaguar TCS Racing) unfortunate withdrawal through injury as the only other ever-present driver to date. Topping off his Season 8 with 1,000 points, following a maiden win for ROKiT Venturi in London which saw him reach 996 in his Formula E career so far, it would be some way to celebrate. Lucas has eyes on that prize but the goal for Seoul is to go out and seal champions***p silverware for Venturi. "I'm very proud of to be able to be compet**ive for eight years now, in a champions***p which is super compet**ive," said di Gra***i. "The level of the teams that drive versus us is just insanely good. But we go to Seoul with our main target being the Teams' World Champions***p, for ROKiT Venturi Racing to be number one. "The task is hard, but it's mathematically feasible. So until it's unfeasible, we're going to work very hard. We know how things are in Formula E, everything can happen. So we're going to be on top of it and try to get this World Champions***p t**le for the team." - An all-new challenge The newest circuit on the Formula E calendar is at Seoul's Olympic Park. The lap starts with a tight, technical run before entering the Jamsil Olympic stadium where the 22 racers will put on a show for thousands of fans in the stadium seats. As they leave the stadium a batch of sweeping turns leading to long straights connected by 90-degree turns follows as the circuit wraps around the Olympic park and the drivers jostle for position around this fast 2.6km, 22-turn circuit. Seoul also brings more high temperatures for the teams to manage. EV battery systems and powertrains are at their most efficient and performant inside a specific temperature window. Managing raw, outright pace with efficiency and high ambient temperatures will be a weekend-long battle for drivers and engineers. There will be plenty of thinking and thousands of kilometres worth of simulator data put into play to ensure ATTACK MODEs, FANBOOST and race strategy are on-point by the first race on Sat****ay. It will all be hypothetical for the engineers until they can get out on track in Free Practice to corroborate the maths and sim work they have put in since London. In addition, the new track surface will evolve rapidly. What might be true on Sat****ay morning might be completely different by the afternoon, and certainly by Sunday. Add to that the complications from expected downpours and high humidity. Whoever triumphs in Seoul will have more than earned their silverware in the most dramatic ABB FIA Formula E World Champions***p season to date. Don't miss a minute of Season 8. Media of the Future: Reliable media allow the society to distinguish truth from untruth "The aim of disinformation campaigns is not necessarily to change the views or att**udes of their audiences, but to create a kind of chaos that prevents them from accessing verified data", said Alexandru Giboi, Secretary General of the European a***ociation of Press Agencies (EANA). "I would compare the situation to a murky water reservoir, in which it is difficult to determine the right directions and to establish a landmark. The role of press agencies is to constantly clear this stream of information flowing to us every day," said Giboi. The expert was a special guest at the Media of the Future international conference organised by the Polish Press Agency. The a***ociation of European Press Agencies (EANA) brings together 30 national news agencies from 30 countries of the continent. The main objective of the organisation is to work towards creating a favorable economic and legal environment for the operation of press agencies, among others, in terms of copyright and access to information sources. Media of the Future: The fight against disinformation is purifying murky water Media of the Future is a conference that covered the most important topics of recent months - from combating disinformation, through changes in the media market, to the future of ma*** media in the face of war conflicts and technological transformation. Special guests of the fourth edition of the Conference were the heads of European Press Agencies. How to react to the growing Russian propaganda? How aware are European societies of online threats? How to reinforce safe behaviors in the virtual world and deal with the flood of fake news? These questions, among others, were answered by the heads of European Press Agencies: Clemens Pig, President of EANA (European Alliance of News Agencies which brings together news agencies from all over the continent) and President of the Austrian Press Agency (APA); Fabrice Fries, President of the French Press Agency (AFP); Nataliia Kostina, Editor-in-Chief of the Foreign Department of the National News Agency of Ukraine (Ukrinform); Alexandru Giboi, Secretary General of the European a***ociation of Press Agencies (EANA); Branka-Gabriela Vojvodić, President of the Croatian Press Agency (HINA); Kiril Valchev, General Director of the Bulgarian Press Agency (BTA); and Wojciech Surmacz, President of the Polish Press Agency (PAP). The debate "War in the Media" was chaired by Wojciech Surmacz, President of PAP. During the discussion, it was pointed out that in order to to talk about the hybrid war, you need to go back to the onset of the pandemic. It was then that many social media accounts were created, whose aim was to disinform and spread the untruth. "After February 24, these accounts began to spread disinformation about the war. These cold-blooded actions have been going on for years. It takes many educational campaigns, such as #FakeHunter, to properly a***ess disinformation. It is also worth cultivating good practices in online behavior amongst the youngest”, argued Justyna Orłowska, Plenipotentiary of the Prime Minister for GovTech, Plenipotentiary of the Minister of Education and Science for Digital Transformation. Nataliia Kostina, Editor-in-Chief of the Foreign Department of the National News Agency of Ukraine (Ukrinform), noted that the media are on the front line and play a huge role in the fight against Russian aggression. "We appreciate the understanding of our problems. No one in Europe is taking Russian propaganda seriously", said Nataliia Kostina. Alexandru Giboi, Secretary General of the European a***ociation of Press Agencies (EANA), highlighted the important role of news agencies. "It is important to fight against disinformation and to show true, verified information, that is, to purify murky water", argued Alexandru Giboi. In turn, Branka-Gabriela Vojvodić, President of the Croatian Press Agency (HINA), reminded that war changes the world and it changes us. Therefore, educational activities are important, which allows us to remain vigilant, and to distinguish the truth from the untruth. We must wage a war on propaganda, which must take some time to combat. "Fake news is free, verified information costs. It is necessary to learn to capture from the ocean of news proven and reliable information”, pointed out Kiril Valchev, General Director of the Bulgarian Press Agency (BTA). In accordance with the t**le of the Conference, Media of the Future, the debates and presentations also discussed the use of new technologies in the media industry, i.e. artificial intelligence in journalism. Products and solutions were presented by the Athens Technology Center (ATC), JP/Politikens Hus and CISION/PRNewswire. There was also a presentation of the results of a study conducted jointly by the Polish Press Agency and PBI on how Poles use information on the web and in electronic media. "The uniqueness of the study was that we studied cross media, that is users of information on the internet, on television and on the radio. In this way, we could study the entire pop****tion of people who listen, watch or read news in Poland", explained Łukasz Świerżewski, member of the Board of PAP. The results showed that about 54% of Poles are regularly exposed to news. "The recipient of news is a mature person, city resident, pensioner, manager or business owner. The most widely reaching medium in the Polish society is the radio. The Poles spend the most time watching television, while the internet is the most accurate medium, as here we can decide for ourselves what we are interested in and what we are looking for", explained Marcin Niemczyk, Advisor to the Board of PBI. The invited guests, including representatives of the media, publishers and technology companies, also discussed the law implementing the Copyright Directive and the related laws, as well as the importance of this doc***ent for the media industry, the creative industry and the so-called Big Tech. Poland, like other EU countries, is obliged to implement the Digital Directive, which means negotiations between content providers such as publishers and media, and intermediaries such as digital platforms like Google or Facebook. It was pointed out that currently only intermediaries make money from the distribution of content produced by publishers on the internet, and publishers do not have any financial benefits from this. "The Directive obliges social media content aggregators to obtain licences for published content. Simply put, journalists will be the beneficiaries of the information distributed by Big Tech”, explained Paweł Nowacki, an independent media and e-commerce market consultant. "This is an important project that will strengthen the editorial offices of the local media, and will build their strength", argued Paweł Laskowski, President of the Board of PBI. "Unfortunately, the law lacks a negotiation mechanism between the parties. Without this, you cannot expect that money will flow to local publishers. Italy, Belgium and the Czech Republic have adopted such mechanisms, and it is also possible in Poland", pointed out Damian Flisak, Head of Public Affairs of Ringier Axel Springer Polska. "Media of the Future deals with the most important issues in the media ecosystem, but at the same time we want to set new trends. This year's fourth edition could not have been dominated by a theme other than the war in Ukraine", summed up Łukasz Świerżewski, member of the Board of PAP. Source: PAP MediaRoom |

Media of the Future: The free world must understand that Russian propaganda threatens its existence A special guest of the Media of the Future conference organized by the Polish Press Agency was Nataliia Kostina, Editor-in-Chief of the Foreign Department of the National News Agency of Ukraine - Ukrinform. From the perspective of not only a professional journalist, but also a person directly affected by the Russian aggression, she pointed to the multidimensionality of the war, also taking place in the information domain. "While in the countries located in the vicinity of Ukraine - in Poland or in the Czech Republic, there is full awareness of the threat from the Kremlin, in some Western European countries the situation is not so optimistic. In order to effectively combat the wave of Russian disinformation, the media around the world should first of all clearly tell themselves and their audiences that Russia is the aggressor threatening our common values", said Nataliia Kostina. The fourth edition of the Media of the Future conference was attended by representatives of ma*** media, technology companies and publishers from Poland and abroad. Special guests of the event were the heads of leading European news agencies. Source: PAP MediaRoom |

NIHR and Sanofi Announce First Patient Enrolled in Large European Clinical Study to Investigate Protection Against RSV, the Leading Cause of Infant Ho READING, England--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sanofi (EURONEXT: SAN and NASDAQ: SNY) and the National Inst**ute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) have today announced that the first patient has been enrolled in the Hospitalised RSV Monoclonal Antibody Prevention (HARMONIE) study. The large European interventional clinical study is investigating protection against Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) in infants. HARMONIE is an open label trial that will evaluate the use of nirsevimab, a pa***ive immunisation, in a broad pop****tion. RSV is the leading cause of hospitalisation in all infants worldwidei and affects 90% of children before the age of two.ii The study has been developed as a collaboration between NIHR, investigators, Sanofi and its clinical research organisation partner, Labcorp. More than 20,000 infants across 3 countries (United Kingdom, France, Germany) will be enrolled from August 2022 to March 2023, of which the majority (up to 12,000) will be UK infants. The first patient visit took place at Cripps Health Centre at the University of Nottingham, United Kingdom on August 8, 2022. The study will take place across approximately 280 sites, of which around 110 are in the UK. HARMONIE is Sanofi’s first hybrid digital study, and requires only one patient visit. Dr Simon Royal Primary Investigator, Honorary a***istant Professor at the University of Nottingham Medical School and GP at the University of Nottingham Health Service, said: “The HARMONIE study will expand our understanding of how well a one-off injection protects babies from RSV. RSV is a major cause of death and illness in children across the world and it is the most common reason for admission to hospital in children aged under one year in the UK. Nearly 80% of the children admitted to hospital with RSV are previously healthy and at certain times of the year, children’s wards are full of babies with disease caused by this virus.” Professor Andrew Ustianowski, National Specialty Lead for Infection at NIHR Clinical Research Network, said: “This study, supported by the National Inst**ute for Health and Care Research across over 100 sites, provides the UK with the opportunity to lead the way in a disease which impacts infants globally. “By carrying out this widespread study, we can help discover how babies can be protected from such a common, yet potentially debilitating virus.” Dr Bogdana Coudsy Global Head of Medical for Vaccines at Sanofi, said: “Given RSV is a leading cause of hospitalisation in all infants, we are excited to start this research that put the needs of partic****nts, carers, and investigators at the heart of its development. This is an innovative study in design and execution, a model for the future, thanks to a hybrid digital design and close collaborative work.” RSV places a significant burden on families and health services Globally, in 2015, there were approximately 30 million cases of acute lower respiratory infections. This led to more than 3 million hospitalisations, and it was estimated that there were 60,000 in-hospital deaths of children younger than 5 years.iii-iv In recent months, there has been a resurgence of RSV following the easing of COVID-19 public health measures.v-vi A peer-reviewed RAND and University of Cambridge report on the burden of RSV estimated that RSV costs the UK £80 million in healthcare costs and productivity losses each year.vii In 2017, RSV-related direct medical costs—including hospital, outpatient and follow-up care—were estimated at €4.82 billion globally.viii A survey of 1,500 UK parents commissioned by Sanofi in 2021 revealed that 83% of parents said infant respiratory infections impacted their mental health, with 4 in 10 (41%) experiencing significant emotional distress.ix Nirsevimab is being developed by Sanofi and AstraZeneca. More information about the trial can be found at http://rsvharmoniestudy.com ENDS About HARMONIE Hospitalised RSV Monoclonal Antibody Prevention (HARMONIE) is a phase 3b randomised open-label study of nirsevimab in preventing hospitalisations due to respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) in infants under 12 months. This study will include newborn babies to babies 12 months old who are in, or are approaching, their first RSV season. It will last approximately 12 months. HARMONIE is an open label interventional study which builds on successful results in phase 2b/3 trials of nirsevimab across all infants.x Regulatory submissions for nirsevimab are already underway. HARMONIE has been designed and developed as a result of close collaboration between Sanofi, investigators and Labcorp, with the purpose of minimising burden on partic****nts, caregivers and parents and as such is based around a single in person visit with entirely virtual follow up. For more information visit http://rsvharmoniestudy.com. About Nirsevimab Nirsevimab is an investigational long-acting antibody aiming to protect all infants from birth entering their first RSV season with a single dose.x,xi,xii Nirsevimab is an immunisation designed to provide direct RSV protection to all infants via an antibody to help prevent LRTI caused by RSV. In March 2017, Sanofi and AstraZeneca announced an agreement to develop and commercialise nirsevimab. Under the terms of the agreement, AstraZeneca leads all development and manufacturing activities and Sanofi will lead commercialisation activities and record revenues. Under the terms of the global agreement, Sanofi made an upfront payment of €120m, has paid a development milestone of €30m and will pay up to a further €465m upon achievement of certain development and sales-related milestones. The two companies share all costs and profits. Revenue from the agreement is reported as Collaboration Revenue in the Company’s financial statements. Nirsevimab has been granted regulatory designations to facilitate expedited development by several regulatory agencies around the world. These include Breakthrough Therapy Designation by The China Center for Drug Evaluation under the National Medical Products Administration; Breakthrough Therapy Designation from the US Food and Drug Administration; access granted to the European Medicines Agency (EMA) PRIority MEdicines scheme; Promising Innovative Medicine designation by the UK Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency; and named “a medicine for prioritised development” under the Project for Drug Selection to Promote New Drug Development in Pediatrics by the j***an Agency for Medical Research and Development (AMED). Nirsevimab has seen successful results in phase 2b/3 trials across all infants.x The safety and efficacy of nirsevimab is currently being evaluated under an accelerated a***essment procedure by the EMA. Nirsevimab has not been approved by any regulatory authority.
